What makes The Mimeoplasm resilient and really fun as a commander is that it works off your opponents’ cards. This gives you more options and makes it a more powerful card, and it also means that each game will present you with radically different options for potential Mimeoplasm combinations. Barring encounters with Rest in Peace, The Mimeoplasm should be consistently strong, while naturally being varied and interesting.

The Mimeoplasm is extremely versatile. Firstly, it can be used to complete a Palinchron combo. Palinchron with either Phantasmal Image or Deadeye Navigator produces infinite mana, and then Oona, Queen of the Fae can kill with that mana. Secondly, The Mimeoplasm can copy Invisible Stalker or Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon to kill through commander damage or infect. Lastly, it can simply copy the best creature in all graveyards. A Body Double that’s always accessible and can be cast again and again is incredibly valuable. The +1/+1 counters aren’t the most relevant, just a nice bonus. We are running Lord of Extinction, but not cards like Death’s Shadow because alone they don’t add much to the deck. Craterhoof Behemoth, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, and Consecrated Sphinx are just some of the bombs you may want to grab. Most of the time, this is the role The Mimeoplasm takes on, a second copy of the best finishers. Outside of Palinchron or Sage of Hours shenanigans, The Mimeoplasm isn’t overtly broken. However, as the graveyard pools increase, so do the possibilities.

If The Mimeoplasm is somehow made inaccessible to you, that’s fine. The deck is built with it in mind, but the vast majority of cards are strong or solid on their own. It can play a regular strategy of grinding out value and ramping up to the finishers. There are also a handful of reanimation effects that can pluck creatures from any graveyard. Jarad’s Orders can put Phyrexian Delver in your hand, which can later reanimate whatever you choose to put in the graveyard. Golgari Grave-Troll and Buried Alive fill the graveyard nicely for some reanimation and recursion effects.

Synergies aside, the power level of this deck is significantly increased by ridiculous cards that have evaded the ban list. We’re packing Necropotence, Survival of the Fittest, Birthing Pod, Demonic Tutor, Mystical Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Imperial Seal, Yawgmoth’s Will, Sensei’s Divining Top, Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, and Mana Drain, all of them good enough to get banned in Modern or Legacy. This deck should not have a problem going toe to toe with other decks at any EDH table.
